Occidental Mindoro - In line with the agency’s ongoing initiative to foster collaboration among various government agencies and private sectors to enhance the well-being of farmers and other stakeholders within the agricultural sector, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) - Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (OMIMO), under the leadership of Division Manager Raymundo L. Aborlan, Palawan - In a remarkable feat of efficiency and dedication, National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Armando L. Flores are fast-tracking the ongoing construction of Ibato-Iraan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP), the largest dam in Palawan. The infrastructure, with a budget of P886 million, has achieved 91.76% completion as of July 31, 2023.

In a significant step towards enhancing infrastructure development and water management, joint inspections between the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were successfully carried out on August 8 and August 11, 2023. Oriental Mindoro - Recently, Typhoon Egay and Typhoon Falcon have caused devastating effects, leaving behind heavy siltation and sediments in the Baco-Bucayao River Irrigation System dam in Brgy. Mulawin, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. This affects the water delivery of approximately 4,142 hectares of farmland in Naujan and Calapan City and could result in an estimated loss of 29 million in costs of standing crops.

Prior to this activity, SISA of Bansud Oriental Mindoro and other top performing IAs nationwide were recognized during the Culminating Program last June 22, 2023 in celebration of the NIA 60th Anniversary.
