Joint Inspections for the Convergence Projects Between NIA MOMARO IMO and DPWH, successfully carried out

In a significant step towards enhancing infrastructure development and water management, joint inspections between the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were successfully carried out on August 8 and August 11, 2023. With the support of Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes, these inspections aimed to assess and strengthen the projects that play a pivotal role in the irrigation and water management.

Oriental Mindoro - Recently, Typhoon Egay and Typhoon Falcon have caused devastating effects, leaving behind heavy siltation and sediments in the Baco-Bucayao River Irrigation System dam in Brgy. Mulawin, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. This affects the water delivery of approximately 4,142 hectares of farmland in Naujan and Calapan City and could result in an estimated loss of 29 million in costs of standing crops.

Cervantes attends the Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Justice (DOJ) Reformation Initiative for Sustainable Environment for Food Security Project Meeting at Diliman, Quezon City on August 9, 2023. The project, which will be piloted in Iwahig Penal Colony and Prison Farms in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, supports a sustainable food environment amidst food security challenges, while also undertaking the reformation of those deprived of liberty through BuCor's labor and Livelihood Program.
