The NIA MIMAROPA’s Technical Working Group (TWG) on the NIA Farming Support Project/Contract Farming, led by Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, along with its focal person, convened on March 6, 2024. The Regional Office's key personnel attended the meeting in person, while the Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs) joined virtually. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and review the preparatory activities related to the procurement and execution of the Rice Contract Farming Scheme, ensuring the smooth implementation of the program.
During the session, Operations Unit Head Engr. Edgard Laurenz M. Geronimo presented the Memorandum of Agreement between NIA and the Irrigators' Association (IA) for the NIA Rice Farming Support Program, aiming to establish a common understanding. Additionally, the guidelines outlined in the NIA Farming Support Project (MC 04, s. 2024) were revisited.

This ensures that challenges are addressed in a timely manner, preventing any potential hindrances to the program's successful implementation.
The Rice Contract Farming Scheme is an initiative of NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen which aims to improve, accelerate and sustain quality rice production in support of the government’s program on attaining rice sufficiency through the provision of irrigation water and necessary agricultural inputs to enhance farmer’s productivity and competitiveness.
