Advancing Irrigation Development: Water Impounding Facility in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro

Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro - Under the guidance of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, the NIA - Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO), led by Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab, proactively organized a meeting with Municipal Administrator Gideon B. Abuel and Municipal Agriculturist Rommel De Guzman on February 29, 2024, at the Office of the Mayor in Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro.

The principal aim of this gathering was to address the resolution advocating for the construction of a small water-impounding facility to provide year-round irrigation in Brgy. Cambunang, Brgy. Campaasan, and Brgy. Nasukob.

Following the meeting, Senior Engineer A John Rhey H. Oprido, Geodetic Engineer Rosel Jean S. Gomez, Hydrologist Irvin M. Moreno, Senior Draftsman Joeriel C. Quinzon, along with the President of the Samahang Magpapatubig ng Nasucob Irrigators, Inc., Aldrin Madra, conducted a thorough site inspection and validation of the location of the proposed small water impounding and service area encompassing rice fields and onion plantations. Additionally, the team carried out discharge measurements along the Bulalacao - Cavillian River.
