Oriental Mindoro - NIA MIMAROPA led by Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez-Aceron, with the support of Regional Manager William P. Ragodon, conducted the Training on Basic and Advanced Computer Literacy on September 7-8, 2022 at NIA Training Center, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
The activity was conducted in accordance with NIA Memorandum Circular No. 26 s. 2022 entitled 2022 Commitment in Addressing Competency Gap. The Memorandum states that NIA shall focus on the conduct of 4 competencies as part of the Agency’s commitment to the Governance Commission on GOCC (GCG). These are People Management, Interpersonal Communication, Computer Literacy and Project Planning Development.
The resource speakers for the activity were NIA MIMAROPA’s Computer Services Programmer Jimmy V. Lozano Jr. and Senior Computer Operator Roy Carlo J. Malenab.
For the Computer Literacy, the results from the Regional Office shows that there are developing and underdeveloped competencies. Hence, the training focused on both basic and advanced competencies. The training included improvement in computer skills like starting up a computer, working with the computer interface (icons, windows and menus) and executing various procedures such as the basics of working with applications, editing documents and sheets, creating presentations, as well as the applying the intricacies of internet access, chatting and managing emails. On the advance part of the training, the speakers tackled cybersecurity and how to maintain the hardware/computer-related equipment./AVGB
