Roxas, Palawan - With the guidance and support of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores, three (3) Irrigators Associations (IAs) engaged in tree planting initiatives as part of their June 2024 activities to mitigate challenges posed by El Niño.
The Samahang Manunubig ng Ibangan Bantoto Farmers, Abaroan, Roxas, Palawan, Inc., Mauranen Irrigator's Association, Inc., and Cavisco Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc. collectively planted a total of 250 trees across different areas near in their respective Communal Irrigation Systems (CIS) in Barangays Abaroan, Mendoza, and Tagumpay.
These IAs have planted 229 saplings mixed of Ipil, Narra, Mahogany, and Mangium, and 21 fruit-bearing trees like Suha, Mango, Langka, and Bayabas across approximately 4.5 hectares of land involving the active participation of 73 local farmer members in Roxas Palawan.
This collaborative effort aims to promote reforestation, mitigate climate change effects, and safeguard irrigation infrastructure to support sustainable agriculture in the town.
