Occidental Mindoro - Supported by National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes, the NIA - Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (OMIMO), under the stewardship of Division Manager Raymundo L. Calusin, successfully conducted the pre-construction meeting for the Baluguhan Small Irrigation Project (SIP) held at Brgy. Baluguhan, Abra De Ilog last September 12, 2023. The said meeting was attended by the contractor and Irrigators Association (IA) Federation of Baluguhan SIP.
Facilitated by NIA-OMIMO Team, led by Engineering and Operations Section Officer-in-Charge Nojario T. Baladjay, Jr., this initiative is to foster a harmonious relationship between NIA and the farmers, and to avoid further conflicts during the construction period. Moreover, Hydrologist and Project-in-Charge Elson M. Castillo provided comprehensive orientation on the project plans and construction process flow, while Senior Irrigators’ Development Officer (IDO) Edwin V. Arevalo discussed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be signed by NIA and IAs by the end of the meeting.
The estimated P15M project, which was awarded to Orient Star Construction Inc., involves the construction of canal lining and canal structure, as well as a silt ejector. This construction will ensure the smooth flow of water, mitigating the risk of floods and enhancing the reliability of water supply. In addition, 30 units of pumps, engines, and accessories will be supplied and delivered to aid in regulating water levels and maintaining an efficient irrigation system.
