NIA OCCIDENTAL MINDORO IMO TURNS OVER 4 COMPLETED CISs

Another milestone was achieved in irrigation development within the province of Occidental Mindoro.

With the strong support of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes and the dedicated leadership of Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin, Division Manager of the Occidental Mindoro IMO, four (4) newly completed Communal Irrigation Systems (CISs) were officially turned over on April 10-11, 2025, to organized Irrigators Associations in the Municipalities of Abra de Ilog, Paluan, and Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.

The Balao Small Irrigation Project (SIP), covering 35 hectares, was turned over to the Balao Talusungan Irrigators Association (IA), led by IA President Maximino H. Alvarez. Subsequently, the 130-hectare Armaca Solar-Powered Irrigation Project (SPIP) was transferred to the Cabacao-Armado Irrigators Association, Inc., represented by IA President Nestor A. Neypes. Following this, the 30-hectare Tubili CIS in Paluan was turned over to the Tubili Paluan IA, with IA President Arnel De Lara accepting. Finally, the 135-hectare Lusakan SIP Phases 1 & 2 in Sta. Cruz were transferred to the Lusakan Sinagtala Irrigators Association, Inc., represented by IA President Erma J. Victoriano. Collectively, these projects benefited 177 farmer-beneficiaries in the area.

During his address, Regional Manager Cervantes commended the excellent quality of all four projects, and the Irrigators Associations expressed their gratitude during the ceremony.

These completed systems are expected to provide sustainable and efficient irrigation support, contributing to increased agricultural productivity and improved livelihoods for local farmers.

Representatives from the Local Government Units (LGUs) attended the event and expressed their full support and appreciation for NIA’s ongoing initiatives in strengthening farming communities.

This turnover ceremony highlights NIA’s continued commitment to delivering quality irrigation services and empowering Irrigators Associations for effective system management and agricultural growth.
