Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro - To evaluate the performance of Irrigators' Associations (IAs) in Oriental Mindoro in terms of operation, maintenance, financial and organizational aspects, NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon Irrigation Management Office (IMO) headed by Division Manager Gerardo R. Perez conducted IA Review and Planning Workshop on September 27, 2023 at Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
During the activity, NIA MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes reminded the farmers to continually clean the canals to ensure the irrigation system operates properly for agricultural purposes. Additionally, Regional Manager Cervantes promoted KADIWA program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. as it will enhance agricultural output, ultimately benefitting the farmers to increase their income and bringing fresh produce directly from the farmers' fields to consumers' hands.
Senior Irrigators Development Officer Ailyn E. Aquino also discussed the plans and programs for the upcoming seasons, during the activity. Said activity is also a venue to address the challenges faced by the IAs in the field. Further, farmers voiced their perspectives to improve the plan and maintenance of the service in farming.
Present during the event were Baco-Bucayao River Irrigation System (RIS) Head Maria Victoria O. Malenab, Institutional Development Program (IDP) Implementers and IA Presidents and representatives.
