NIA MIMAROPA's Rice Contract Farming Scheme Gears Up with First Seed Delivery

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA's Rice Contract Farming Scheme kicked off on May 8, 2024, with the first delivery of palay seeds at the NIA Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (IMO) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

Supplied by Insight Supply Chain Solutions (InsightSCS) Corporation, the initial batch consists of 58 bags (15 kg/bag) of hybrid palay seeds. These are intended for twenty two (22) participating farmers from the Cadanguehan Irrigators' Association (IA), Inc. of the Amnay River Irrigation System (RIS) located in Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro. The farmers are gearing up for planting on May 30, 2024, and expect to harvest their crops by August 31, 2024.

Deliveries of additional hybrid and inbred seeds are scheduled for next week. These seeds will be distributed through the Irrigation Management Offices (IMOs) in Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) and Palawan for further distribution to participating IAs.
