NIA MIMAROPA Turns Over Sumbiling SIP, Bringing Irrigation to Farmers to Barangay Taratak, Bataraza, Palawan

Bataraza, Palawan - NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores turned over the Sumbiling Small Irrigation Project to the Maculango Irrigators Association (IA) on July 16, 2024.

The Sumbiling SIP funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2021 and 2022 composed of the construction of diversion works, 2.93 km canal lining, and 24-unit canal structures completed on November 23, 2021, and the construction of 256 meters slope protection, 5.6 km canal lining, and 85 unit canal structures completed on October 6, 2023.

This project aims to provide efficient irrigation to 182 hectares of farmland in Barangay Taratak and will benefit 25 farmers of Maculango Irrigators Association (IA) led by President Joel Marquina.

Regional Manager Engr. Cervantes praised the teamwork and dedication of all individuals involved that led to the successful completion of the project and commended IA assistance during implementation.

Meanwhile, Pres. Marquina expressed appreciation to NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen and his leadership for bringing irrigation to Barangay Taratak, allowing members of IA to plant crops efficiently and improve their livelihood.

Looking forward, NIA MIMAROPA is dedicated to expanding irrigation services to remote areas in the province and urges IA to uphold care of existing infrastructure properly.
