NIA MIMAROPA: A Step Closer to Rice Contract Farming Implementation

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro - To ensure the smooth implementation of the Rice Contract Farming Scheme in the MIMAROPA Region, NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, together with EOD Manager Engr. Lowell L. Lozano, convened the NIA MIMAROPA’s Technical Working Group (TWG) along with its focal person on the NIA Farming Support Project/Contract Farming last Monday, March 11, 2024.

During the meeting, Engr. Cervantes highlighted the need for the submission of necessary data, which will serve as one of the bases in the preparation of bidding documents such as the preferred rice varieties indicated by individual farmers within the IMOs' respective areas of coverage. Meanwhile, Engr. Lozano, together with Operations Unit Head Engr. Edgard Laurenz M. Geronimo, presented the list of Irrigators' Associations who will be the beneficiaries of the program, ensuring that those involved IAs are ready to engage in the program. Additionally, the number of beneficiaries and the coverage areas of the Irrigators' Associations were also clarified and confirmed.

Lastly, it was agreed that the required data will be forwarded to the Regional Office within the day wherein EOD Manager Engr. Lowell L. Lozano, also serving as the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairperson, made a commitment to expedite the preparation of bidding documents. He assured the group that these essential documents would be completed and posted on the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PHILGEPS) within the current week.
