NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Inaugurates Rehabilitated Canal at Malatgao RIS in Narra, Palawan

Narra, Palawan- NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes inaugurated the newly rehabilitated canal at Malatgao River Irrigation System (RIS). Joining him were Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores and members of Dumangueña Manaile River Irrigators Association (IA) led by R4B Vice President of Regional Confederation of IAs, Palawan National Irrigation System (NIS) Confederation of IAs, President Jibsam Andres.

The Php 14 million newly rehabilitated canal is expected to promote crop diversification, strengthen resilience to climate change impacts, and improve irrigation efficiency for 1,400 hectares of farmland, benefiting 409 farmers from five (5) IAs. The farmer-beneficiaries to benefit from these developments are members of Dumangueña Manaile River IA Inc., Agkakaruba IA, Jose Rizal of Aborlan Farmers IA, Katuwang sa Bukid IA, and Strella Village Tuas Farmers IA.

During the inauguration ceremony, Regional Manager Engr. Cervantes emphasized the agency's commitment to providing efficient, effective, and sustainable irrigation services to support the growth and development of Filipino farmers and agricultural sectors.

President Andres lauded the spirit of teamwork and commitment demonstrated by NIA’s personnel reflecting a shared dedication to improve the canal of Malatgao RIS emphasizing the positive implications this initiative holds for the farming community.
