NIA MIMAROPA Palawan IMO Conducts SMC Meeting for 74 farmer leaders in Narra town

Narra, Palawan - Under the management of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, the Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), headed by Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores conducted System Management Committee (SMC) meeting for 74 (IA) leaders and members (IAs) from Irrigators Associations (IAs) of the Malatgao Batang Batang River Irrigation System (MBBRIS) in Narra, Palawan.

The meeting was convened by the Institutional Development Unit (IDU) to discuss the operational and maintenance activities of the irrigation system, and for farmers to explore potential collaborations with relevant agencies to develop sustainable solutions that would support life progress and growth.

Additionally, the program also functioned as a platform for stakeholders to exchange pertinent information regarding CY 2023 accomplishments, CY 2024 plans and projects, training programs, and various initiatives. Topics discussed encompassed Farmland Geographic Information Systems (FGIS) new areas, Irrigation Service Fee (ISF) condonation status, rice contract farming, updated Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) master lists and cooperative formation, and CY 2025 livelihood program (Gulayamanan sa Canal Contest) Kadiwa ng Pagulo (KNP) and the conduct of Awarding of the 6 most outstanding IAs.

In attendance were esteemed individuals including Narra Local Government Unit (LGU) Mayor Honorable Gerandy Danao, Palawan Committee on Agriculture Board member Hon. Aristor D. Arzaga, Narra Sangguniang Bayan Hon. Benedicto Acosta Sr., officials and representatives from various agencies including the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Narra North, Department of Agriculture (DA) Narra, DA Aborlan, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and other distinguished guests. Each representative from these agencies shared insight into their respective programs.
