NIA MIMAROPA PALAWAN IMO COLLABORATES WITH PSL TO ENHANCE AGRICULTURAL YIELD OF MBBRIS FARMERS

Palawan - With the support of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes, the Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), headed by Division Manager Armando L. Flores, has collaborated with the Palawan Soils Laboratory (PSL) to provide essential guidance to the Irrigators Associations (IAs) of the Malatgao Batang-Batang River Irrigation System (MBBRIS) on the proper utilization of organic fertilizers and other suitable nutrients for specific soil types.

The findings from PSL could assist farmers in correctly applying organic fertilizers, such as ammonium phosphate, muriate of potash, and urea, to enhance crop growth and increase rice production. This effort is part of the agency's initiative to reduce low harvests for farmers and provide them with guidance and support to optimize their farming practices for improved productivity.

Meanwhile, the PSL is currently conducting ongoing tests on priority soils covered by MBBRIS. This represents a significant step forward in empowering farmers in the province by equipping them with essential resources to improve agricultural output.
