NIA MIMAROPA PALAWAN IMO COLLABORATES WITH DOLE TO SUPPORT VULNERABLE FARMERS THROUGH TUPAD PROGRAM

Palawan - In line with the convergence initiative of the NIA MIMAROPA, under the management of Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, the Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) led by Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores is consistently collaborating with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Palawan to ensure that vulnerable farmers of Irrigator's Associations (IA) in the province, particularly those who are facing emergencies, seasonal challenges, and difficulty in planting can take advantage of the opportunities covered by the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

On February 27th, Palawan IMO, through its Institutional Development Unit (IDU), submitted a list of 8,120 farmers from 128 IAs to DOLE for the TUPAD program. This program offers employment and financial support to farmers in the occurrence of difficult circumstances like disasters, pandemics, or other crises.

As of April 1, 2024, a total of 908 farmer-beneficiaries (FBs) hailing from the 1st district, along with 150 FBs from the 2nd district and 704 FBs from the 3rd district have been identified by DOLE as eligible recipients. These partial lists await the final validation from Palawan’s Local Government Units (LGUs) in alignment with established guidelines.

Through this endeavor, the NIA MIMAROPA aims to create a supportive environment for farmers to thrive and establish a strong foundation for agricultural growth and development.
