NIA MIMAROPA Managers Conducted Inspection in Aborlan, Palawan

Aborlan, Palawan - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Engineering Department, in collaboration with MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronlio M. Cervantes and Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores, conducted a pre-plugging and pre-final inspection for contract no. SRIPD-C-20RW, the construction of the Ibato Iraan earth fill dam and its appurtenant structures.

The inspection team included members from various divisions: Project Planning Division (PPD)'s Project Investigation & Validation Section (PIVS) with Principal Geologist Xsa A. Cabria, Construction Management Division (CMD)'s Contract Administration Section (CAS) with Supervising Engineer A Christian D. Galano and Sr. Engr. A Rody Mae T. Serrano, Design and Specification Division (DSD)'s Electromech Design Section with Sr. Engineer A John Emmanuel Nicole S. Palomares, and DSD's Civil Works Design Section (CWDS) with Engineer A Gerald Ladan Tiangsing. Additionally, Supervising Engineer A Randy E. Magboo from the NIA MIMAROPA Regional Office and Palawan IMO resident engineer Ian Rey M. Alcantara participated.

The inspection aims to validate the actual accomplishment of the project and its remaining balance works, verify compliance with the noted findings and observations on the conducted In-house inspection, assess and check the actual survey of the remaining balance of works and completed works based on GFC and proposed As-built drawing, check the proposed firmed-up contract quantities and cost, setting of commitment and agreement of NIA and prepare a comprehensive pre-final Inspection report.

As of June 30, 2024, the Ibato Iraan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP) is the largest dam built by NIA in Palawan, with a physical completion rate of 95.53%. Its primary purpose is to provide irrigation for 1,072 hectares of farmland in Aborlan, benefiting a total of 425 farmer-beneficiaries.
