NIA MIMAROPA JOINS THE NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY

Oriental Mindoro - In partnership with Barangay Local Government Unit (BLGU) of San Luis and Mahabang Parang, Naujan and Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), NIA MIMAROPA headed by Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes joins the Nationwide Simultaneous Tree Planting Activity under the National Greening Program (NGP) with the theme “Tao, Agrikultura, at Kalikasan Para Sa Progresibong Kaunlaran" on June 30, 2023.

Acting Regional Manager Cervantes and PENRO Forest and Water Resources Management Section Chief Engr. Marc Joseph Solis emphasizes the importance of the said activity.

Further, Acting Regional Manager Cervantes extended his gratitude to PENRO for protecting and preserving the mountains in the province.

During the program, Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Gerardo R. Perez also expressed his appreciation to the Barangay San Luis and Mahabang Parang, Naujan officials for their support in the said activity.

PENRO representative Mr. Jerry Mamigo also showed the proper way of planting the trees.

Selected employees from Regional Office together with MOMARO IMO planted 1,000 hardwood and fruit-bearing trees at the 2.5-hectares watershed of the Baco-Bucayao River Irrigation System (RIS) in Brgy. San Luis, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

Meanwhile, Palawan IMO headed by Division Manager Armando L. Flores and Occidental Mindoro IMO headed by Acting Division Manager Maria Victoria O. Malenab also participated in the said endeavor.

Employees of Palawan IMO planted 700 fruit-bearing and endemic trees at 1.2 hectares watershed of the Malatgao RIS in the municipality of Narra while Occidental Mindoro IMO conducted the activity at 1.75 hectares watershed of Caguray River Irrigation System in the municipality of Magsaysay and planted 700 fruit-bearing trees.

Overall, NIA MIMAROPA planted 2,400 hardwood, fruit-bearing and endemic trees on various watershed areas in the region.
