NIA MIMAROPA Joins Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair, Extends Support to IA Members

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MOMARO IMO, under the leadership of its Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab and the guidance of Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, joined the first Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in MIMAROPA at Oriental Mindoro National High School, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on Marcrh 9, 2024. The BPSF is the country’s biggest service caravan aimed at providing major government services to less fortunate Filipinos in various communities across the country, featuring the government’s flagship programs such as Kadiwa ng Pangulo, Passport on Wheels, Driver’s License registration/assistance, among others.

During the Opening Program, graced by House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, NIA MOMARO IMO awarded the Certificate of Exemption in the payment of Irrigation Service Fee to Rening A. Cabatay as per RA 10969. Additionally, the completed Repair of Canal Lining of Baco-Bucayao River Irrigation System with a total length of 1.9 km amounting to Php 20,000,000.00 was turned over to the BBRIS-Bagto Bucayao Calapan Naujan West Federation of Irrigators Association, received by its federation president, Anacleto C. Guerra.

Lastly, the Operations and Maintenance Subsidy amounting to Php 1,267,337.00 was also awarded to the Irrigators Association. Said awards was handed over by NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, MOMARO IMO Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab, Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito “Bonz” A. Dolor, Oriental Mindoro 1st District Representative Hon. Arnan C. Panaligan, Oriental Mindoro 2nd District Representative Hon. Alfonso V. Umali, Jr., and Leyte 1st District Representative and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

NIA, one of the forty-two (42) agencies currently participating in the fair, will offer the following services during the two-day event: Kadiwa sa NIA, wherein through the Irrigators Association, consumers can avail of quality milled rice at Php 35/kilo; Assistance in the Enrollment in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA); Application for Condonation and writing off of unpaid Irrigation Service Fee (ISF)/ IA Loan Balance of Amortization and Certificate of Exemption in the Payment of ISF.

BPSF, which started today, will run until tomorrow, March 10, 2024. NIA is encouraging the IA members with eight  (8 ) hectares and below with unpaid ISF and corresponding penalties and the Irrigators Associations with loans and past due account to visit NIA at Angara Building and apply for condonation so that their loans will be condoned and written off from the books of NIA.
