Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA), under the leadership of Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, has launched the Rice Contract Farming Scheme. This initiative aims to accelerate, improve, and sustain quality rice production, directly supporting the government's program for rice self-sufficiency.
NIA takes a central role by providing irrigation water, and essential agricultural inputs to farmers, enhancing their productivity and competitiveness in the market.
To ensure a successful program rollout, NIA MIMAROPA holds a Pre-Procurement Conference of Supply and Delivery of Certified Palay Seeds for the Implementation of NIA Rice Contract Farming Scheme under NIA Farming Support Program for CY 2024 on March 15, 2024, at the NIA RIM Conference Room in Bayanan II, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
This activity brought together key personnel such as the NIA MIMAROPA's Technical Working Group (TWG) on the NIA Farming Support Project/Contract Farming, Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) led by Chairperson and Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Lowell L. Lozano and Vice-Chairperson and Planning Design and Construction Section Chief Engr. Suzanne J. San Juan, along with the BAC members, secretariat, and the end-user representative.
