NIA MIMAROPA HOLDS MASS SIGNING OF MOA ON RICE CONTRACT FARMING

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro -  NIA MIMAROPA holds a simultaneous Mass Signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Rice Contract Farming on April 17, 2024 at NIA MIMAROPA Training Center in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. This signing marks a significant milestone for agriculture in the MIMAROPA region.

Representatives from 61 Irrigators' Associations (IAs) across the region participate in the event, signifying a united effort to strengthen agricultural productivity and improve the lives of local farmers.

Under the leadership of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, the MOA establishes a collaborative effort to promote sustainable farming practices and enhance farmers' livelihoods. Through these contract farming agreements, participating farmers will gain access to vital resources, technological advancements, and crucial market connections. These measures aim to secure stable income for farmers while simultaneously boosting overall agricultural output in the region.

This collective endeavor reaffirms the commitment of government and agricultural stakeholders to nurture innovation, resilience, and inclusivity within the agricultural sector. Such initiatives are essential for propelling economic growth and fostering food security throughout MIMAROPA.

Present during the activity are Engineering and Operations Division Manager Engr. Lowell L. Lozano, Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez-Aceron, and Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Acting Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab, Operations Section Officer-in-Charge Engr. Edgard Laurenz M. Geronimo, and Institutional Development Unit Head Engr. Ave Jane V. Alvarado. They attend in face-to-face with the participating IAs of MOMARO IMO. Meanwhile, Atty. Norileisha R. Atienza, Occidental Mindoro IMO Division Manager Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin, along with Occidental Mindoro IMO IAs, and Palawan IMO, headed by Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores with participating IAs, convene in their respective venues and participate virtually, accompanied by Operations and Institutional Development personnel.
