NIA MIMAROPA Grants Php 34.2 Million in Services to Beneficiaries, Serves 478 Clients at Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair in Oriental Mindoro

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA, through the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon IMO, provided essential services to 478 clients during the recently concluded Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) held on March 9-10, 2024, at the Oriental Mindoro National High School in Calapan City.

Throughout the two-day activity, the agency assisted 191 IA members who applied for the condonation and writing off of unpaid Irrigation Service Fee (ISF)/ IA Loan Balance of Amortization wherein NIA condoned a total amount of Php 12, 938, 828. 57 in accordance with the implementation of RA 10969 or the Free Irrigation Service Act.

Meanwhile, “Kadiwa sa NIA” provided a valuable opportunity for 150 consumers to access quality well-milled rice at a price of Php 35.00 per kilo. Participating Irrigators' Associations collectively sold 300 kilos of rice during the fair. Among those who benefited from the Kadiwa sa NIA program was Susan V. Javier, a resident of Libis, Calapan City, who expressed her gratitude, saying, "Maraming Salamat po sa Kadiwa sa NIA sa pagbebenta po ng magandang klase ng bigas sa abot-kayang halaga."

The BPSF, which aims to bring government services closer to the people, proved to be an opportune platform for NIA to engage with 107 farmers, landowners, and stakeholders in the agricultural sector, providing them with vital information about NIA’s programs and assistance regarding their irrigation concerns and queries.

Lastly, NIA MOMARO IMO awarded 30 Irrigators' Associations, through their respective IA Presidents, their IA Operations and Maintenance Subsidy amounting to Php 1,267,337.00. This subsidy aims to support the farmers in their operations, canal clearing, and other maintenance activities as stipulated in the Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Contract signed by and between NIA and the IA.
