Naujan, Oriental Mindoro - NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager, Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, participated in the 2024 WS Seed Distribution Kick-off Ceremony and Program Briefing of the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Program, held on May 3, 2024, at Bahay Tuklasan Hall in Poblacion, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
The event aimed to introduce an enhanced system for distributing high-quality inbred seeds and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to farmers. It provided an opportunity for participants to gain a deeper understanding of the RCEF program services, appreciate its achievements, and foster stronger partnerships among implementing agencies.
Representatives from key RCEF implementing agencies such as the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), Agricultural Training Institute, and Development Bank of the Philippines shared valuable information and insights during the ceremony, which was followed by an open forum.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Certificate of Support to Supervising Administrative Officer Jefte Bayongan, representing Provincial Agriculturist Christine Pine, by Ms. Jacqueline Lee O. Canilao, the DA-PhilRice Los Baños RCEF Coordinator. This certificate marked the receipt of 46,190 bags of inbred seeds designated for distribution to municipalities within the province for the 2024 Wet Season. The event was witnessed by 1st District Representative Arnan C. Panaligan and Naujan Municipal Agriculturist Raquelita Umali, representing Naujan Mayor Henry Joel C. Teves.
