The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA, under the leadership of Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, organized a series of orientations through its Irrigation Management Offices to guide Irrigators' Associations (IAs) on the agency’s new program, the Rice Contract Farming Scheme.
Led by Institutional Development implementers and Operations personnel, the discussions explained how the Rice Contract Farming Scheme works as outlined in MC 4, s. 2024, or the Guidelines on NIA Farming Support Project. They covered the program's objectives, scheme of implementation, and the activities to be conducted, among others.
The back-to-back orientations received a positive response from the participating Irrigators' Associations, with representatives expressing enthusiasm for the opportunities presented by the Rice Contract Farming Scheme.
One member of the IA shared, “Hindi na po kami mangungutang para sa abono, pesticide, at iba pang kailangan namin.” “Hindi na po babaratin ng mga trader ang aming palay.”
