Oriental Mindoro - In a bid to foster collaboration and explore potential synergy, NIA MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager, Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, initiated a meeting with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Regional Director, Mr. Emmanuel H. Asis. The purpose of the visit was to discuss possible convergence projects that will benefit the Irrigators’ Associations of MIMAROPA Region.
The meeting was held on June 30, 2023 at the BFAR Regional Office, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. During the fruitful discussion, potential areas of collaboration were identified, including the identification of possible areas for aquaculture where fingerlings will be stocked before its distribution to the farmer-beneficiaries and provision of fingerlings to farmer-beneficiaries.
Engr. Cervantes stated that said meeting is a crucial step towards establishing a strong partnership between NIA and BFAR to contribute significantly to the growth and development of MIMAROPA’s agricultural and fisheries sectors. On his part, Regional Director Asis expressed his full support on the potential convergence project between NIA and BFAR. The meeting ended with a commitment from both agencies to further explore the identified areas of collaboration and work towards developing concrete plans and projects.
