NIA FINALIZES RIMP 2023-2030 FOR SOUTH LUZON CLUSTER THROUGH INTENSIVE WORKSHOP IN PALAWAN

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan - Under the direction of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen, the Corporate Planning Services headed by Engr. Reynaldo Nilo held Cluster Workshops on the Finalization of the Regional Irrigation Master Plan (RIMP) 2023-2030 for the South Luzon cluster including NIA Region 4A, Region 4B, and Region 5 on January 17-19, 2024, hosted and assisted by NIA MIMAROPA in Puerto Princesa City, under the management of Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes.

The purpose of this endeavor was to resolve, address, and incorporate all comments, instruction, and concerns raised during the previous review workshop in October 2023, and validate the irrigation strategies, recommendations, and targets outlined in the national-level plans into the final regional plans.

It aimed to ensure that RIMPs address specific local needs while aligning with the broader objectives of the National Irrigation Master Plan (NIMP) 2020-2030, harmonize regional plans with national-level targets outlined in the NIMP for the holistic development of the irrigation sector, facilitate a platform for dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders to enhance strategic synchronization and cohesion between regional and national plans and engage in technical working groups from various key entities to ensure comprehensive collaboration and inputs.

The finalization of RIMP was thoroughly reviewed by officials from the Central Office of the Department of Agriculture (DA), NIA, Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), and Bureau of Agricultural and Fisheries Engineering (BAFE) that underscores a collective commitment to boost agricultural growth, ensure efficient irrigation services, and contribute to national food security goals.
