NIA Conducts Capability Building in the Establishment and Development of ISCs for IDP Implementers

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan - In a significant step towards fulfilling the guidelines and objectives outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) regarding the establishment and development of Irrigation Service Cooperatives (ISCs), the NIA, under the leadership of Administrator Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen is conducting capacity building/enhancement for the Institutional Development Program (IDP) implementers of Regions 2, 6, 7, and 8.

This endeavor represents the first of four batches that brings together NIA Central Office (CO) Institutional Development Division (IDD) Division Manager Martin T. Tacloban, CDA Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist (SCDS) Sally Triñanes and Inocencio Malapit and Sr. CDS Rowena Gumapac, regional Institutional Development Section (IDS) chiefs, and Irrigation Management Office (IMO) staff involved in ISCs.

Participants in this activity will be equipped to develop comprehensive strategies that will facilitate the smooth establishment and development of ISCs or Irrigators Association (IA) cooperatives. The program will also provide essential knowledge on cooperative fundamentals and governance management and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations issued by the NIA and CDA.

By leveraging the expertise of CDA as the learning service provider, the NIA ensures that participants gain valuable insights into regulatory compliance and best practices established by both agencies.

This undertaking is being hosted by the NIA MIMAROPA, under the management of Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, and Palawan IMO headed by Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores from May 8-10, 2024 in Puerto Princesa City.
