Rizal, Palawan - The Malapandeg Farmers Irrigators’ Association, Inc. in Punta Baja, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, Palawan, underwent a field evaluation and validation conducted by the National Irrigation Administration-Central Office on June 4, 2024. The evaluation results will determine the IA’s qualifications for the Annual Search for National Outstanding Irrigators’ Association Performers in the Communal Irrigation System category.
The validation team was spearheaded by CDO III Lorna P. Villagonzalo from the Institutional Development Division-Central Office, Engr. Hans Ray Albert P. Esguerra from the Systems Management Division, and Ms. Julie Ann De Guzman from the Budget and Revenue Division-Financial Management Department. They assessed the IA's functionality in irrigation and IA management-related indicators, covering responsibilities and activities such as Operation and Maintenance, Financial Performance, Organizational Discipline, Assistance Programs and Support Services, and Linkages and Special Features. Following the validation, the evaluators provided feedback and recommendations to help the IA improve its operations and efficiency
The Malapandeg Farmers Irrigators’ Association, Inc., headed by IA President Jordan G. Nazareno, operates and maintains the Malapandig Communal Irrigation System, serving 92 hectares of farmland with 42 members.
Palawan IMO Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores, together with the Regional Office and the IMO’s IDP implementers assisted the validation team from NIA CO.
The activity was also attended by key personnel from the Municipality of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, Palawan, including Mr. Edgar B. Monte, representing the Mayor's office; Mr. Vladimir Esperancilla, representing the Vice Mayor's office; Hon. Zaldy C. Magbanua, Sangguniang Bayan Member; Ms. Michelle B. Palarca, MAO Representative; Hon. Eugenio H. Buenaflor, Malapandeg Barangay Captain; and representatives from eight Irrigators Associations from the municipalities of Dr. Jose P. Rizal and Quezon, Palawan.
