MOA SIGNING BETWEEN NIA-PALAWAN IMO AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE, A SUCCESS

Palawan - The Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) and Indigenous Peoples (IPs), with the assistance of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), was a success in Aborlan.

This MOA was created under the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) of the Ibato-Iraan Small Reservoir Irrigation Project (SRIP), to ensure IPs of Barangay Sagpangan, Iraan, and Isaub received proper compensation relative to the construction of this project.

The MOA was signed by Palawan IMO Division Manager Armando Flores, NCIP Palawan Provincial Officer Atty. Jansen I. Jontila, IP leaders, Indigenous People Mandatory Representative (IPMR), and Certificate of Ancestral Domain Title (CADT) representative.

This achievement demonstrates a successful collaboration between the NIA, NCIP, and IPs, showing unity and cooperation toward the attainment of food security and sustainable development in the province.

The MOA signing was witnessed by NIA MIMAROPA  Engr. Shirley Bahia, Institutional Development Unit (IDU) Sr. Irrigators Development Officer (IDO) Glenda G. Buenavista and staff, Barangay Captains of Iraan and Sagpangan, Barangay counselor of Isaub and representatives of Aborlan Local Government Unit (LGU).
