Occidental Mindoro - NIA MIMAROPA Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes together with Acting Division Manager Maria Victoria O. Malenab, officiated the Groundbreaking Ceremony, Pre-Construction Conference, and MOA Signing of the CY 2023 Manoot Communal Irrigation System (CIS) Restoration Project on June 29, 2023 at Brgy. Manoot, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro.
The P15.6 million project includes the construction of 1.7730 kilometers of canal lining and 4 units of canal structures. Upon completion, the project will provide sufficient water supply to 96 hectares of agricultural land benefitting the 38 farmers of Amaling Manoot Irrigators Association.
Acting Regional Manager Cervantes emphasized during the ceremony, “Ang IA dapat maging observant sa kalidad na ginagawa ng contractor upang maging maayos ang proyekto at mapakinabangan ng matagal. Sa part naman ng contractor, siguraduhing maayos at naaayon sa plano ang gagawin, at gawin ito on time para sa panahon na kailanganin na ng magsasaka ang patubig, ito ay agarang mapakikinabangan lalo na’t may pronouncement ng El Niño”.
Present also during the ceremony are Senior Engineer Emelito V. Urriquia, Senior Irrigators Development Officer (IDO) Edwin V. Arevalo, Project-In-Charge Engr. Jeremy Jay V. Bue, Engr. Nojario T. Baladjay Jr., Barangay Captain Bonifacio Custodio, IA President Fernando Tejada Jr., and Board of Trustees and farmer-beneficiaries.
