Enhancing Agricultural Productivity: NIA MIMAROPA Supports Babangon Irrigators Association with Rice Combine Harvester Acquisition

Brookes Pt. Palawan - As a component of the convergence program of the NIA MIMAROPA, under the management of Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes, the Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), headed by Division Manager Armando L. Flores, through its Institutional Development Unit (IDU), supported the general assembly of the Babangon Irrigators Association (IA) in Barangay Pangobilian, Brookes Pt. Palawan.

The core of this initiative signifies a collaborative endeavor between the Agency and the presence of representatives from various government institutions in the Municipality including Honorable Cesareo R. Benedicto, Jr., Barangay Pangobilian Chairwoman Hon. Violeta Dela Cruz, and representative from Office of the Municipal Agriculture, Ms. Rubelyn Ceriaco and Irish Sebido.

With the assistance of Palawan IMO IDU Community Relations Assistant (CRA) Rizal Badilla, a significant moment of this gathering was the blessing and awarding ceremony for a newly acquired unit of rice combine harvester valued at around P1.5 million by Babangon IA, headed by President Rosendo Ocreto Sr. This acquisition was made possible through the Rice Mechanization Program under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) of the Department of Agriculture (DA), with the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) serving as the lead agency.
