Palawan - The NIA Palawan IMO, headed by its Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores through its Institutional Development Unit, initiated a coordination meeting with the DSWD Disaster Response Management Office (DRMO) to discuss the assistance that will be provided by the agency to the members of the Irrigators Association affected by the El Niño phenomenon in the province of Palawan. Community Relations Assistant Jackielyn P. Hamora and Ms. Charmelyn A. Develos coordinated with Provincial Development Officer Mr. Franklin C. Arbegoso, and they were informed that farmers eligible for assistance may receive either family food packages or financial assistance.
Furthermore, Community Relations Assistant Hamora also collaborated with DSWD-Sustainable Livelihood Program through the Provincial Program Coordinator Ms. Gina M. Bacosa to request funding for cash-for-work programs and other livelihood programs for the Irrigators Associations in the province of Palawan. Ms. Gina M. Bacosa outlined the priority areas for funding in 2024, including Balabac, Bataraza, Brooke's Point, Rizal, and Roxas municipalities.
These proactive steps taken by NIA Palawan IMO, under the guidance of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervates, are a testament to NIA's commitment to support farmers through collaboration with partner agencies, aligning with the strategies of NIA Administrator Engr. Eduardo Eddie G. Guillen.
