BUILDING TOGETHER: STAKEHOLDERS COLLABORATE ON BAGTINGON IRRIGATION PROJECT

Marinduque - On April 8, 2024, the National Irrigation Administration MIMAROPA Region (NIA MIMAROPA), led by Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, convened a meeting at the Governor's Office in Brgy. Santol, Boac, Marinduque. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current status and address any concerns regarding the proposed construction of the Bagtingon Small Reservoir Irrigation Project.

Representatives from the Marinduque Provincial Government, including Mr. Rolando Larracas and Engr. Ryan Pastoral on behalf of Governor Hon. Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr., were present. Additionally, Engr. Daniel Angelo M. Malabanan, the Marinduque Provincial Irrigation Officer-in-Charge, and Mr. Simon Diaz from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) also attended. To ensure smooth project execution, Engr. Randy Dela Cruz, the project manager, and Engr. Leo Diaz, the project-in-charge, were also present.

This project is designed to provide irrigation to 226 hectares of farmland, benefiting 238 farmers in the municipality of Buenavista, Marinduque. The project entails the construction of an earth fill dam, reservoir, spillway, main canal, lateral canals, and an access road to the dam site.

This meeting ensured all stakeholders were aligned and any potential concerns were addressed before project implementation. Following the discussions, participants conducted a field inspection to visit the proposed dam site.
