Occidental Mindoro - Seventeen (17) units of Shallow Tube Well (STW) were distributed to members of ALPHA Alipaoy-Harrison Irrigators Association of Paluan, Occidental Mindoro last July 21, 2021 during the turnover ceremony of Alpha Pump Irrigation (Phase 2) Project held at Brgy. 5, Paluan, Occ. Mindoro. This P5 million project serves irrigation water to about 61 hectares of agricultural land with 28 agrarian reform beneficiaries in both barangays of Alipaoy and Harrison in the municipality of Paluan.
Moreover, Bubog Communal Irrigation Project was fully turned over to AMA-SJ Bubog Irrigators Association under the leadership of Chairman Roberto Deita for its operation and maintenance after its official inauguration last July 29, 2021. With a total project cost of P25million pesos from Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program under Irrigation Component (CARP-IC), this completed system is currently irrigating 94.5 hectares with 64 agrarian reform beneficiaries of Barangay Bubog, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
Before project construction, most farmers of these projects were not capable of having 2nd cropping season since scarcity of irrigation water were being experienced in both locations during dry season. The impact of the project significantly increased the cropping intensity and yields of farmers since they have been practicing two cropping season in a year which resulted to increase farmer’s income. ARBs were very grateful of providing them reliable source of water thru this irrigation development program of the government with collaboration of DAR and NIA.
Said activities were actively participated by the Department of Agrarian Reform Regional and Provincial Staff headed by Regional Director Atty. Marvin V. Bernal, PARPO OIC Nomer Sebastian, PARRCOM Chairman Marcelino Pulayan and from the National Irrigation Administration Occidental Mindoro IMO headed by Division Manager Engr. Raymundo L.
