San Jose, Occidental Mindoro - Fifty (50) employees from the Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (OMIMO) participated in the "Interpersonal Communication, Technical Writing, and Analytical & Creative Thinking Competency Training Program for CY 2024", held on June 26, 2024, at the NIA Training Center in San Roque.
The results of the Competency Assessment for CY 2023 served as the basis for formulating this training. It was initiated by OMIMO's Division Manager, Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin, and the Administrative Section, with the support of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes.
This training generally aims to provide proper developmental intervention for NIA OMIMO personnel to close their competency gaps. Specifically, it equips employees with better writing skills, enhances interpersonal communication, and develops new perspectives for solving problems and/or overcoming challenges. This ensures that vital information is effectively and efficiently communicated to the target audience, achieving its intended purpose.
During the inspirational message of Engr. Calusin, he emphasized the importance of technical writing skills training, particularly for technical personnel. He also highlighted the significance of writing based on the recipient or audience and eliminating overly complex words (highfalutin) in office communication to convey ideas and information clearly.
Ms. Sharjah B. Tuazon, Instructor I at Occidental Mindoro State College (OMSC), served as the resource speaker for the activity. She engaged the participation of the employees through various workshops offered at the end of each topic. The environment seemed to be fun and conducive to learning during the checking of outputs. Ms. Tuazon observed that all the attendees were very active and competitive throughout the 1-day training. / J.E Sapo
