NIA OMIMO CELEBRATES ITS 2025 NATIONAL WOMEN'S MONTH

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro - In celebration of the 2025 National Women’s Month, NIA Occidental Mindoro IMO (OMIMO) held a one-day activity on March 5, 2025, at the NIA Training Center.

With the theme, “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas,” NIA OMIMO aims to foster a work environment that promotes women empowerment, gender equality, and ensures equitable access to resources and opportunities. Employees wore purple in solidarity with Women’s Month and will continue to do so every Wednesday until the end of March.

The morning session was a re-echo of the training workshop about Gender-Responsive Irrigation Proposals held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. GAD Focal Point System members highlighted the importance of women in their roles both in NIA and IAs, proposing that every project should be gender-inclusive. NIA OMIMO also introduced its reconstructed GAD Focal Point System, with NIA OMIMO Division Manager, Raymundo L. Calusin, as GFPS Executive Committee Chair.

The afternoon session consisted of a seminar on breast cancer awareness with Dr. Diana Jane B. Garcia, MD, FPCR, FCTMR, FUSP from RevCare, and a cosmetology training session led by Ms. Mariz Señorin Kalaw from Mary Kay. Both activities highlighted womanhood, empowering NIA OMIMO employees in different aspects.

NIA OMIMO strongly supports the celebration of Women’s Month. With its inclusivity and solidarity, under the leadership of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager, Ronilio M. Cervantes, and the guidance of NIA OMIMO Division Manager, Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin, NIA OMIMO continues to foster a gender-inclusive work environment, aligning with its goal of progressive and sustainable agricultural practices.
