Romblon — May 26, 2025 | Building on its recent engagements in Occidental Mindoro, the National Irrigation Administration – MIMAROPA (NIA MIMAROPA) continues its field assessment activities with visits to several Irrigators’ Associations (IAs) in the province of Romblon. The team focuses on five IAs based in the municipalities of Odiongan and Looc.
• RECTO-MALILICO Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc., led by IA President Isidro Victoriano (Odiongan)
• PILI SUR Irrigators’ Association, Inc., led by IA President Michael V. Francisco (Looc)
• LITTE CAMANDAG LOOC, ROMBLON Farmers Irrigators' Association, Inc., led by IA President Reynaldo G. Gabanan (Looc)
• GINTONG BUTIL CAMANDAG Irrigators’ Association, Inc., led by IA President Noly Garcia (Looc)
• PUNTA Irrigators’ Association, Inc., led by IA President Jonaben Guevarra (Looc)
Facilitators of the activity are representatives from the Regional Office, including Engr. Ave Jane V. Alvarado, Supervising Irrigators Development Officer and Institutional Development Unit Head; Joy Celyn M. Tansiongco, Senior IDO for the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program – Irrigation Component (CARP-IC); and Lovely D. Ricablanca, IDO A.
Also present were Fe F. Alvar, IDO A from the MOMARO Irrigation Management Office (IMO), and Michael V. Francisco, Board of Trustees (BOT) Member of the Region 4B Federation of Irrigators’ Associations, Inc. (R4BFIA) and IA President of Pili Sur Irrigators’ Association, Inc..
The main goal of this monitoring effort is to thoroughly evaluate the performance and challenges of the Irrigators’ Associations (IAs). These findings help guide the delivery of appropriate support and interventions, aimed at strengthening the IAs' capacities, ensuring their sustainability, and enhancing their role in effectively managing and operating irrigation systems under NIA’s jurisdiction.
