San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) MIMAROPA Region commenced its Semestral Review on the Operation and Maintenance Performance of Irrigation Systems in MIMAROPA on June 16, 2025. The activity was hosted by the Occidental Mindoro Irrigation Management Office (IMO) under the leadership of Division Manager, Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin.
Spearheaded by Regional Office Principal Engineer C, Engr. Edgard Laurenz M. Geronimo, Chief of the Operations, Institutional, and Equipment Section, this three-day activity aimed to reconcile, assess, and monitor the status of irrigation system performance for the Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Dry Season. It also served as a platform for sharing best practices for possible adoption across all IMOs in the region.
The activity included a briefer on the proper documentation of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) activities, a presentation of the Farmland Geographic Information System (FGIS) via Web Viewer, and the facilitation of a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) Analysis per office. Additionally, the review sought to calibrate and align the official duties and responsibilities of regional and field O&M personnel to further enhance performance and operational efficiency.
In attendance were the O&M Persons-in-Charge from Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan, along with staff from the Institutional Development Unit, led by Supervising Irrigators Development Officer, Engr. Ave Jane V. Alvarado.
Joining the activity virtually were NIA MIMAROPA Regional Office Division Manager for Engineering and Operations, Engr. Lowell L. Lozano; MOMARO IMO Division Manager, Engr. Ma. Victoria O. Malenab; Palawan IMO Division Manager, Engr. Armando L. Flores; and Senior Engineer A, Engr. Mary Grace B. Cartagena.
