Oriental Mindoro - With the theme “NIA MIMAROPA: 12 Taong Serbisyong Handog sa Progresibong Pagsasaka”, NIA MIMAROPA celebrated its 12th Anniversary led by Acting Regional Manager Ronilio M. Cervantes on April 27-28, 2023. The agency conducted various activities like thanksgiving mass, parade, opening of sports tournament, singing contest, beauty pageant and community service program. Employees of Regional Office with Engineering and Operations Division Manager Lowell L. Lozano and Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez-Aceron, Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon Irrigation Management Office (IMO), Occidental Mindoro IMO and Palawan IMO led by Division Manager Gerardo R. Perez, Acting Division Manager Maria Victoria O. Malenab and Fidel P. Martinez, respectively, and the incoming Division Manager of Palawan IMO Armando L. Flores participated in the said event.
The celebration served as a venue for the NIA employees to look back on the 12 years that NIA MIMAROPA has served and provided irrigation services to the farmer clients and other stakeholders. The activity also served as an opportunity for the employees to socialize with each other through sports tournament.
Acting Regional Manager Cervantes said in his message, “Sa kabila ng bawat hamon, marami pa ring naging achievements at accomplishments ang NIA MIMAROPA, gaya na lamang ng pagiging Best Regional Office of the Year noong 2018 at 2020 at ng katatapos lamang na successful nating ISO QMS Implementation Audit (Readiness Assessment) noong nakaraang April 13-14, 2023. Hindi po ito magiging matagumpay kundi dahil sa tulong-tulong at bayanihan nating pagtatrabaho. Kayo po ang nasa likod ng bawat tagumpay ng NIA MIMAROPA. Tunay na kayo ang asset ng ating ahensya.”
He also said that the activity is a way of the agency to thank all the NIA MIMAROPA employees for their accomplishments contributed to the agency. Further, he said that, “Sa humigit kumulang kalahating taon kong paglilingkod sa NIA MIMAROPA, asahan nyo bilang inyong Acting Regional Manager, kaisa po ninyo ako sa bawat hamon at tagumpay ng ating rehiyon,” during his speech.
After the messages, ceremonial lighting of torch was conducted followed by oath-taking of players led by Ms. Ella Myn C. Apostol. After these, the Women’s Volleyball game between Occidental Mindoro IMO and Regional Office began followed by Men’s Basketball game. The sports tournament will run from April to June 2023.
Part of the event was the NIA MIMAROPA Singing Idol 2023 wherein Ms. Vivian Dimzon of Occidental Mindoro IMO was hailed as the Grand Champion. Mr. Ezekiel Sevilla, LPT, the MAHALTA Idol 2020 Champion and Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 6 Daily Winner and One-time Defending Champion was the guest judge in the said competition.
One of the highlights of the anniversary is the Ms. NIA MIMAROPA 2023. Mutya ng Lungsod ng Calapan 2023 1st Runner Up Ms. Carolyn Kean M. Tuquero and Pasarela (catwalk) trainer Dr. Mark Vener A. Zamora were the guest judges in the said pageant. Ms. Laiden Espillo of Occidental Mindoro IMO was crowned as Ms. NIA MIMAROPA 2023.
