NIA Internal Audit Services Begins Management Audit in MIMAROPA

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan - The Internal Audit Services (IAS) of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) commenced a comprehensive Management Audit in NIA MIMAROPA with an Entry Conference held on May 20, 2025. Hosted at the NIA Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), the audit will focus on the Procurement Process, Recruitment and Selection Process, and Property Management Process.

Set to run until June 13, 2025, the audit will begin with extensive engagements at the Palawan IMO. Subsequently, it will proceed to the Occidental Mindoro IMO, the Regional Office, and the Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) IMO.

The audit team, from the NIA Central Office’s Organization and Management Audit Division, is headed by Division Manager Maria Kathleen Barbosa, MDM. The team comprises Chief Internal Control Officer Nenita H. Ramon, Senior Internal Control Officers A Romillo F. Cudal Jr., Christine A. Corpuz, and Melvincent C. Cablayan; Senior Internal Control Officer B Madel B. Garan, and Internal Control Officer A Louis Albert B. Saddi.

The audit aims to assess the processes in the identified audit areas, determine the degree of compliance with relevant government laws, rules, and regulations, and evaluate adherence to established NIA policies and procedures. It will also assess the adequacy and effectiveness of existing internal controls.

Present in person at the Palawan IMO for the Entry Conference were Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores and his concerned personnel.

Also participated virtually from their respective venues were NIA MIMAROPA key officials: Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, Administrative and Finance Division Manager Kirsty Caroline M. Hernandez-Aceron, and Administrative Section Chief Joy U. Bautista, along with their respective personnel.

Additionally, key personnel from the Occidental Mindoro IMO, led by Division Manager Engr. Raymundo L. Calusin, and the MOMARO IMO, led by Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab, joined the conference virtually from their respective offices.
