The Local Government Unit of Magsaysay and Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro has extended vital support to local farmers by providing them with water pumps to augment their irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water management.
A total of six Irrigator Associations, comprising 790 farmer beneficiaries who manage 3,429.45 hectares of farmland, have received significant aid from the LGU of Magsaysay. The assistance includes 23 units of Yamma water pumps and 900 liters of diesel. These resources are expected to greatly alleviate the water scarcity issues faced by the farmers, allowing them to continue their agricultural operations during this challenging period.
In a similar effort, the LGU of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro, has also stepped up to support its local farming community. One Irrigator Association, consisting of 151 farmer beneficiaries managing 256 hectares of farmland, has been provided with a Yamma water pump. This support is crucial in helping these farmers sustain their crops and maintain productivity despite the adverse weather conditions.
These efforts by NIA MIMAROPA, under the leadership of Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, through the NIA IDP Implementers of Occidental Mindoro IMO and the LGUs of Magsaysay and Mamburao, highlight the importance of local government interventions in securing the agricultural output and livelihoods of farmers in Occidental Mindoro. -IDO Lovely Ricablanca
