INNOVATIVE FARMING TECHNIQUES HIGHLIGHTED AT MASAGANA RICE CLUSTER FIELD WALK

Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro - The NIA MIMAROPA actively participated in the Masagana Rice Cluster Field Walk, held on March 26, 2024, at Brgy. Palayan in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro. Represented by Irrigators Development Officer A Jonathan Geron emphasized key initiatives such as condonation programs, the Free Irrigation Act under NIA R.A. 10969, the Irrigation Management Transfer (IMT) Contract, and various convergence programs during the event.

Pinamalayan Municipal Mayor Hon. Aristeo A. Baldos Jr. took the opportunity to address attendees, emphasizing the significance of modernizing farming techniques to meet the growing demands of the agricultural sector. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between government agencies, farmers, and technology providers in achieving this goal.

During the event, the Department of Agriculture (DA) delivered a presentation on the benefits and applications of utilizing agriculture drones. They underscored how these drones revolutionize farming operations by offering precise and efficient means of monitoring crops, pest control, and even the distribution of seeds and fertilizers.

Several companies also seized the platform to introduce various hybrid seeds designed to thrive in local conditions.
