Buenavista, Marinduque -To bring reliable and eco-friendly irrigation to local farmlands, the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Solar Pump Irrigation Project in Yook on April 11, 2025.
In collaboration with the We Care Foundation, the Philippine Air Force Civil-Military Operations Group (PAFCMOG), and the Municipal Agriculture Office, this project is designed to harness solar energy, providing sustainable water distribution to 45 hectares of land and directly benefiting 108 farmers. By utilizing renewable energy, the solar pump system aims to reduce dependence on traditional power sources, lower operational costs, and ensure a consistent water supply for crops, ultimately boosting agricultural productivity.
As construction begins, the Solar Pump Irrigation Project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between government agencies and farmers. It will serve as a model for other communities seeking sustainable solutions to agricultural challenges.
