Buenavista, Marinduque - On May 15, 2025, the Malbog Communal Irrigation System (CIS), a ₱5 million project funded under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program – Irrigation Component (CARP-IC), was officially turned over to the Malbog Irrigators’ Association, Inc. The ceremony was held in Barangay Malbog, and will directly benefit 24 farmers.
This project will provide irrigation services to 13 hectares of farmland. It is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity in the area and improve the livelihoods of local farmers.
The turnover ceremony was led by NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, NIA MOMARO (Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) Division Manager Engr. Maria Victoria O. Malenab and NIA Marinduque Provincial Irrigation Office Officer-In-Charge Engr. Daniel Angelo M. Malabanan.
During the event, Engr. Cervantes encouraged the Irrigators Associations (IAs) to register in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) to become eligible for various interventions from the Department of Agriculture (DA). He also reminded them to be grateful for the project, as it comes at no cost to them and assures a high-quality, non-substandard turnover.
The members of the Malbog Irrigators’ Association expressed their deep gratitude for the project, acknowledging its importance in ensuring a sustainable and efficient water supply for their farmlands.
This initiative reflects the NIA's continued commitment to enhancing rural development and supporting agrarian reform beneficiaries through vital infrastructure investments.
