Oriental Mindoro - The NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO), in collaboration with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the Local Government Units of Victoria and Socorro, successfully conducted a Pre-registration Seminar (PRS) and an Orientation on the establishment of cooperative.
The event aimed to introduce and encourage the formation of cooperatives among local irrigator associations, focusing on the benefits of cooperative membership and development. It served as an important platform for promoting sustainable and community-driven agricultural practices through cooperative engagement. The activity was designed to support the improvement of irrigation management and empower local farming communities by enabling them to work together and harness the collective strength of a cooperative.
A total of 30 members of the Bagong Buhay Victoria Irrigators Association, Inc., and 75 participants from the Calubayan Farmers Irrigators' Association, Inc. and the Monsocom Irrigators' Association, Inc., actively participated on the said activities.
The program featured expert insights from key speakers, including Christian B. De Ade, Cooperative Development Specialist II; Mona Liza W. Gannad, Cooperative Development Specialist; and Geraldine P. Dimaunahan, Cooperative Development Specialist II. These professionals shared their knowledge on cooperative governance, its impact on community development, and how such organizations can be utilized to improve agricultural practices and resource sharing.
The seminar focused on cooperative principles, providing attendees with the essential tools and knowledge needed to establish and manage cooperatives effectively. The successful completion of this seminar marks an important step toward building a resilient and cooperative agricultural community in Oriental Mindoro.
