Pederasyon ng mga Magpapatubig sa Sta. Cruz, Inc. Holds "Lingap sa Mamamayan" Kadiwa Event, Sells Rice at P35/Kilo

Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro - With the theme “Lingap sa Mamamayan ng Sta. Cruz,” the Pederasyon ng mga Magpapatubig sa Sta. Cruz, Inc. held a meaningful social activity in support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s Kadiwa ng Pangulo program. The event was conducted on May 8, 2025, at the Covered Court, Brgy. Poblacion. This community-driven initiative aimed to provide affordable and high-quality rice and other agricultural products directly to the people of Sta. Cruz, Occidental Mindoro.

Composed of 14 Irrigators Associations (IAs) from across the municipality, the federation collectively launched their own version of the Kadiwa market—an effort inspired by the national government’s call to empower local farmers. With support from the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), the event showcased the strength of collaboration among local agricultural stakeholders.

The highlight of the activity was the sale of locally produced rice at only P35 per kilo, made possible through the direct efforts of farmer-members from the Irrigators Associations. A total of 4,100 kilos of rice were made available to the community. Through this direct-sale initiative—free from additional costs such as middlemen—the IAs expected to recover a total of P143,500 in capital. This approach not only benefits consumers but also strengthens the sustainability of local farming operations by ensuring fair returns for the producers.

Beyond the economic relief, the event served as a strong symbol of social responsibility and community spirit. The IAs’ efforts reflect their commitment to give back to the community and to share the blessings and support they have received from government agencies over the years.

Under the capable leadership of Mr. Harry Caballes, President of the federation, the event was smoothly and successfully executed—earning appreciation from local residents and government partners alike.

This initiative not only supports national development goals but also proves that when local farmers unite with purpose and heart, meaningful change reaches even the grassroots.
