NIA Palawan IMO Conducts Leadership and Systems Management Workshop with AWD Training

Palawan - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) – Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO), under the leadership of Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores and with the support of Regional Irrigation Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes, conducted a Basic Leadership and Development Course (BLDC) in conjunction with a System Management Workshop and Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) training on June 25, 2025.

The workshop aimed at strengthening both the technical knowledge and leadership skills of more than fifty (50) farmer-members from the Achiever, Pinamaratan, and Busuanga – Palawan Irrigators’ Associations. Participants, divided into two groups (Achiever and Pimamaratan IAs, Inc. at San Nicolas, Coron; Busuanga – Palawan IA, Inc. at Sto. Niño, Busuanga), engaged in simultaneous sessions covering system management and leadership development.

The System Management Training included modules on rice morphology, cropping calendar, irrigation requirements, and the principles and practices of AWD—highlighting the installation and use of observation wells.

Meanwhile, the Leadership Course focused on the NIA's core mandate, the organization and operation of Irrigators' Associations, effective communication, records management, and conflict resolution.
