Palawan - The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Palawan Irrigation Management Office (IMO) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trade held a preliminary meeting to discuss a proposed Convergence Project aimed at enhancing the skills and livelihood opportunities of farmers and their families in Palawan. This initiative seeks to foster sustainable growth and improve the quality of life within local farming communities.
The Convergence Project for Scholarship Allotment is a community-driven initiative designed to provide technical skills training to the qualified members of the Irrigators Association. The project focuses on offering scholarships for high-skilled qualifications in three key fields: Electronics, Welding, and Automotive. By equipping participants with specialized skills, the program aims to improve their economic stability and create new livelihood opportunities.
This partnership stems from NIA’s ongoing collaboration with TESDA to support the development of Palawan’s Irrigators Associations. The meeting helped align objectives and prepare for the project’s implementation.
Representing NIA Palawan IMO were Irrigators Development Unit (IDU) Head Glenda G. Buenavista and Community Relations Assistant Jackielyn P. Hamora. On behalf of TESDA, Vocational School Administrator III of Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trades Dr. Sianita C. Tadlas, Administrative Officer IV Head Patricia T. Paladan and External Linkages and Partnerships UPTRAS Head (Program Registration) Focal Ms. Shaira Kuh T. Conde attended the meeting.
