To ease the financial burden on farmers and ensure compliance with RA 10969, also known as the Free Irrigation Service Act, the NIA Mindoro Oriental-Marinduque-Romblon (MOMARO) Irrigation Management Office (IMO) under the guidance of NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes and led by Acting Division Manager Maria Victoria O. Malenab conducted a condonation campaign to provide farmers with clear guidelines on the condonation process, requirements, and compliance measures while addressing their concerns.
The campaign took place in the barangays of Batino, Balingayan, Malad, Biga, Pambisan Malaki and Palayan. Members from Samahang Magpapatubig ng BBRIS Lateral B Irrigators' Association, Inc., Sta. Rita, Balinggayan, Personas, Comunal-Irrigators' Association (SABAPECO-IA Inc.), Malad-Calapan Irrigators' Association, Inc., Biga-West Main Canal Irrigators' Association, Inc., PAMCAL Farmers Irrigators Association, Inc. and Palayan Pinamalayan Irrigators Association, Inc. actively participated, representing a cumulative land area of 74.91 hectares. The total amount applied for condonation was ₱4,862,118.30.
Farmers expressed their appreciation for the NIA’s efforts in making the condonation process more accessible and transparent.
