NIA MIMAROPA PALAWAN IMO INAUGURATES MALATGAO SPIP IN NARRA, PALAWAN

Narra, Palawan - NIA MIMAROPA Regional Manager Engr. Ronilio M. Cervantes and NIA Palawan IMO Division Manager Engr. Armando L. Flores led the inauguration of three (3) units of the Malatgao Solar Pump Irrigation Project (SPIP) on April 24, 2025.

Spearheaded by the NIA MIMAROPA the SPIP seeks to maximize water resource utilization while delivering sustainable and cost-efficient irrigation services to farmers in the province.

Completed in October 15, 2024, the SPIP is expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity and contribute to national food security. As the government expands efforts to provide reliable irrigation solutions across the region. The project is designed to irrigate 30 hectares of agricultural land, benefiting 16 farmer beneficiaries.

Further, Regional Manager Cervantes said, “Nagpapasalamat ako sa NIA Palawan IMO at sa lahat ng naging bahagi ng ating proyekto. Maganda at maayos ang pagkakagawa ng proyekto, at kapansin-pansin ang mataas na kalidad nito.Hinihiling ko rin na lalo pa ninyong patatagin at pasiglahin ang inyong Irrigators Association (IA). Kayo na rin ang inaasahan naming manguna sa pag-aasikaso at masusing pagbabantay sa ating solar pump irrigation system, upang mas matagal natin itong mapakinabangan. Napakaganda ng proyektong ito sapagkat hindi na natin kailangang gumamit ng diesel. Libre na ang pagpapatakbo ng bomba—ang araw na mismo ang nagbibigay ng enerhiya. Isa itong malaking hakbang tungo sa mas mura, mas malinis, at mas sustenableng irigasyon para sa ating mga sakahan ,” in his inspirational message.

Also present during the event are the Karaniogan Irrigators Association (IA), led by IA President Mr. Rollie V. Golez, Malatgao Batang-Batang River Irrigation System (MBBRIS) Office-In-Charge (OIC) Engr. Nimrod Maceda, Sr. Engineer A, John Joco T. Matutina, Sr. Irrigators Development Officer (IDO) Glenda G. Buenavista, IDU staff, and Kagawad Amador Hermo Jr.
